Amit Shah Amit Shah was born on 22 October 1964. He is an Indian politician serving as the Minister of Home Affairs since 2019. He was the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from 2014 to 2020. Shah began his political career as a member of the RSS and was mentored by Narendra Modi. He has been a close ally of Modi since the early days of their political careers in Gujarat. Known for his organizational skills and strategic acumen, Shah played a pivotal role in expanding the BJP's footprint across India. As Home Minister, he has overseen significant policies, including the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, and the introduction of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), both of which have been controversial but represent major shifts in India's internal policy. His leadership in the BJP has been characterized by a focus on grassroots mobilization and a strong emphasis on electoral victories.
