Narendra Modi Narendra Modi was born on 17 September 1950. He is the 14th and current Prime Minister of India, in office since May 2014. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014 and is the Member of Parliament for Varanasi. Modi's political journey began as a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), where he was involved in various activities and eventually transitioned into mainstream politics as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). His tenure as Gujarat's Chief Minister was marked by economic growth, but also controversies related to the 2002 Gujarat riots. As Prime Minister, Modi has introduced significant economic reforms, such as the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and the demonetization policy, aimed at curbing black money. His tenure has also seen a focus on improving infrastructure, digital governance, and enhancing India's international relationships.
