Yogi Adityanath Yogi Adityanath, born Ajay Singh Bisht on 5 June 1972, is an Indian monk and politician who serves as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, a position he has held since 2017. A member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Adityanath is also the Mahant (head priest) of the Gorakhnath Math, a Hindu temple in Gorakhpur. His political career began with his election as a Member of Parliament from Gorakhpur in 1998, a seat he held for five consecutive terms. As Chief Minister, Adityanath has focused on law and order, infrastructure development, and welfare schemes for the poor. His tenure has seen a strong emphasis on improving public safety, economic development, and the promotion of Hindu cultural values.
